The Top 14 final got off to a blistering start at the Stade de France as Clermont raced out into a lead despite having to soak up some early pressure.
After les jaunards started quickly and put three points on the board after five minutes, Toulon went in search of an immediate response and looked very close to breaking through but for some strong defending.
Then, out of nowhere, a Nick Abendanon turnover on Clermont's own five-meter line was taken all the way back for a try up the other end. It was Alivereti Raka who got the score, but credit must go to Damian Penaud for the break and the killer pass.
What a start to the final!
Superb rugby, and a dream start for Clermont.
Having finished second in the league season, they earned a spot in the final having beaten Racing in the semis, while Toulan knocked off 1st placed La Rochelle thanks to a last second drop goal.
