It only took 18 days, two hearings and two appeals, but Cian Healy has been finally given a two-week ban for an incident involving Toulon hooker Guilheim Guirado in the first of the two meetings between the sides in mid December.
The original game took place on December 13th, and Healy was initially cited for striking Guirado, before the hearing deemed him not guilty, and charged him with a different offense. This lead to appeals from Leinster, and Healy was free to play for the following two games.
Today's hearing in London has deemed Healy guilty of striking (aka the original charge), and has given him the original sanction of a two-week suspension.
This doesn't seem like the end of the story, as it appears that Leinster are highly likely to appeal again, and take this further. As it stands though, Healy is not free to play against Connacht on Friday, and will be eligible to play again against Bath in Leinster's penultimate and meaningless Champions Cup game.
