CBC v Pres in the Munster Schools Senior Cup on Wednesday was decided by an outrageous last minute try from CBC's fourth year student Chris Barrett.

Christians trailed by 11 points with just four minutes to go in Wednesday's Senior Cup clash against their old rivals, before two late tries turned the Cork derby on its head.

The second of those CBC tries was one that wouldn't seem out of place in the upcoming Six Nations, and earned a dramatic last-gasp victory for Christians.

CBC v Pres: Last-minute stunner wins it for CBC

The two most successful teams in the history of the Munster Senior Cup met in Wednesday's semi-final qualifier, and it was a cross-city showdown between 31-times winners Christian Brothers College and 30-times winners Presentation Boys School.

The roll call of alumni from these schools is decorated, to say the least, with CBC boasting the likes of Donal Lenihan, Donncha O'Callaghan, and Tomás O'Leary, while Pres have produced Ronan O'Gara, Peter O'Mahony, and Simon Zebo, among others.

It looked as though this tie would go the way of Pres in the closing stages. They led 19-5 at half-time, before they kicked on and pulled out a seemingly decisive 26-15 lead with just ten minutes to go.

When Adam Wrona scored his second try of the game for CBC with four minutes left on the clock - and Benjamin Lynch nailed an impressive conversion - things got a little nervier for Pres, and the game was about to be turned on its head in the final moments.

In the last minute of the game, CBC out-half Charlie O'Shea made the brave call to attempt a cross-field kick to wing Chris Barrett. Barrett improvised and kicked the ball first time over the head of the Pres wing, before sensationally overtaking him in a footrace to the line and scoring the try that would win the game for Christians.

Several angles of the brilliant try were shared to Twitter, and what made the score all the more impressive was that both of the players involved for Christians are fourth year students.

Given the long history of their rivalry with Pres, this will be a day that will live long in the memory for CBC, especially if they can go on to win the Cup for a 32nd time. Pres can at least bank on the safety net of a quarter-final to come, against the winners of Thursday's game between Rockwell and Coláiste Pobail Bheanntraí.
