If Alex Salmond gets the job done next week, the British and Irish Lions, formerly the British Lions, could face another name change.
The team was known as the British Lions until 2001, when Keith Wood lead the charge for a name change. Until the 1990s, the team used to stand for God Save The Queen before games.
Now with the Scottish independence poll set to be a close run thing, the Lions board are considering the possibility of another change. John Spencer, the English representative on the Lions board told the Telegraph they would have to discuss it.
They could go for 'The British and Irish and Scottish Lions'? Or they could go for 'The English and Welsh and Irish and Scottish Lions'?
However, it is understood that the favoured choice is 'The Lions'.
