Ahead of what proved to be one of Irish rugby's greatest days, Brian O'Driscoll shared an iconic elision of the two great days of the past. In Cardiff, minutes after O'Driscoll became only the second man in history to lift a Grand Slam for Ireland, he shared a moment with Jack Kyle, who was an integral part of the 1948-Slam winning Irish team.
Would be delighted to play the Jackie Kyle role today @rorybest2! Happy Paddy’s Day to one & all. #coybig🍀🇮🇪 pic.twitter.com/mk0cyDmU8G

O'Driscoll's ambition came through, and speaking on ITV after the game, the erstwhile national captain paid tribute to his successor.
He has been there and done it. He was involved in 09. He has had a pretty remarkable experience since taking over from Paul O'Connell in 2015. He has ticked a lot of boxes in beating all the great teams, and now he's won a Grand Slam with Ireland. You're looking from wise words from your captain, but you're looking more for actions. He is always in the thick of it but with a calm head.
