During the fiercest days of the Munster and Leinster rivalry in the late 2000s, many from Leinster would forsake their native province and don the red of Munster.
'Lunsters' they were named.
The southern province were far more successful at the time, they had two Heineken Cups. Leinster's first truimph in the competition would not come until 2009.
The Lunsters did not have to foresight to see those three Heineken Cup victories in four years coming and rather than stick with Brian O'Driscoll, Gordon D'Arcy and co., they jumped ship.
Speaking to Jarlath Regan on his An Irishman Abroad podcast, O'Driscoll told of how the betrayal of their province by two specific individuals in the media particularly rose his ire.
O'Driscoll leaves both individuals nameless, though provides enough information to make an educated guess regarding their identities.
I'll keep him nameless, but he was a radio DJ that was from Kildare. I'm sure it won't be too difficult to work out. I remember hearing that he was going to support Munster in 2009 because they had more spirit and more passion even though he was from Kildare. Whatever about the guys down on the border, but Kildare is not that close to Munster.
That was a great annoyance to me.
There was someone else. There was another TV personality/radio DJ from Meath who also said likewise.
