Brian O'Driscoll pole dancing is not something we ever thought we'd encounter. But Stephen Ferris told 'Off the Ball' a story about that very topic tonight at their Roadshow at the RDS.
Brian O'Driscoll provided us with more than a few delightful images throughout the course of his stellar rugby career. Thankfully, we weren't there for one of BOD's less glamorous moments, described by former Ireland team-mate Stephen Ferris at the 'Off the Ball' roadshow at the RDS tonight.
Ferris told a frankly quite bizarre story about himself and BOD's antics while jollying in Hong Kong.
Brian texts me and says, 'We're having a few pints, come along and meet us, it's good fun.' Ten minutes later, I text him to say, 'What's the craic, you all good?' There's no reply so myself and Daemo (agent) get out of the taxi and we walk in and open the door and Drico's literally swinging on the chandeliers, and there's strippers' poles and he's swinging around and trying to show me his best moves.
When they finally managed to get BOD into a taxi, Ferris' portrayal of the situation wasn't a whole heap kinder on the bould BOD:
The taxi's coming rolling down the street, Drico isn't in the back of it. (The taxi driver) goes, 'You owe me more money!' I say, 'What are you talking about? I gave you 20 quid!' He says, 'No, it was 22. The fella just got out and run away!'
It's safe to say the taxi driver was never going to have much hope of catching the great man. But we still admire his Balls.ie's for going back to Ferris and asking him for two extra dollars.
As for BOD, the question remains: was this only a brief foray into the world of pole-dancing, or are there more anecdotes? Darce, Shaggy, Paulie, anyone - do tell.
