At the age of 40, legendary All Black and Heineken Cup winner with Leinster Brad Thorn signed off on his career by turning out for the Barbarians against England at Twickenham.
England won the game 73-12 but Thorn did manage to get a try.
Following the match, the second row said it was a game which "encapsulated" his career. He spent the final ten minutes sitting on the sidelines after being yellow carded for a dangerous tackle.
I actually enjoyed myself, got to have a few runs with the ball, got a few shots off. You know, got in trouble with the ref, that game pretty much encapsulated my whole career.
He also said that we should not view it as retirement, just that he's going to be "playing less".
It was good. I appreciated how they felt sorry for me at the end when I got sent off for ten. It just seems so ironic getting sent off for ten in my last game.
Love the game. Nothing changes. I'm going to miss it.
Just remember, I'm not retired - I'm just playing less now.
