There are some amazing post-match quotes in today's Irish Times from the human wrecking ball named Matthieu Bastareaud given in the bowels of the Aviva Saturday evening. Bastareaud always struck us a complex guy but we were shocked by his emotional honesty in relation to his opposite number, Brian O'Driscroll.
“When he started for the national team I was 11, so I watched on my TV when he try-ed three times in Paris. I cried this day. All the French people cry"
And as for BOD's Lazarus act on Saturday, Basareaud was even more profound.
"When he go off I say “yes!” When he come back I say “Non!”
We're not sure if this statement was made out of fear or concern for BOD's well-being, but either way, it's fascinating.
