Ireland have gotten off to a winning start in their Women's Six Nations campaign, defeating Scotland in a tight contest at Energia Park.
Ireland were under the cosh for much of the second half, defending a six point advantage. Just when Scotland looked like they were about to breach a stubborn defence, a piece of brilliance from 18-year old winger Beibhinn Parsons made the difference.
It was a strong start from the home side, with Cliodhna Moloney scoring the first try of the game inside the opening ten minutes.

However, Scotland would grow into the game at this point. They managed a try of their own before the interval, with Ireland leading 13-7 at the break.
The visitors were on top for much of the second half, looking like they were about to make the pressure count in the 66th minute.
However, Parsons would pop up with a wonderful intercept try, carrying the ball the length of the pitch to give her side an 11 point cushion.

Parsons only turned 18-years old a few months ago and is will sit her Leaving cert later this year. The Ballinasloe RFC player made her senior international debut as a 16-year old against the USA in November of 2018.
Scotland would manager a converted try late on to get within four points, but Parsons' try proved to be the difference in the end. Ireland will take on Wales in their second game of the campaign, where a win would put them in a very strong position for the rest of the tournament.
