In the years to come, we will reflect on October 22nd, 2016 as the day which reminded us all of the unique position Munster rugby holds in Irish society.
The outrageous ignorance of death has intruded upon Irish life this week, but the gathering at Thomond Park this afternoon is proof of just how special Munster and Irish sport can be.
Thomond was packed fully 90 minutes before today's kick-off against Glasgow, and thirty minutes ahead of kick-off, the Munster Rugby Supporters' Club Choir led the crowd in a haunting rendition of Fields of Athenry.
The video below is preceded by Mick Galwey's eloquent remembrance of his friend and teammate, and of the mourning and grief that he and the nation have been plunged into.
