A survey conducted by Ladbrokes has found that Andy Farrell is Ireland's favourite rugby coach of all-time. Farrell led Ireland to a Six Nations Grand Slam earlier this year and his side head into the Rugby World Cup as one of the main contenders for the title.
24 per cent of the 1,035 adults surveyed voted for Farrell. Elsewhere, Ireland’s win against New Zealand in 2022, where they became only the fifth team in history to beat the All Blacks on their home turf, has been voted Ireland’s best ever victory with 36 per cent of the vote.
Last year's victory over the All Blacks is a good sign for Ireland as there is a chance the two sides could clash at the quarter-final stage, depending on where they finish in their pools.
Ahead of the Rugby World Cup, which gets underway in France on September 8th, Ladbrokes has teamed up with rugby star Ian Madigan to create a landmark conversion kick. Madigan kicked off the supporter’s campaign in style with a kick through the iconic Poolbeg Chimneys.
"Ireland is heading into this World Cup as a serious contender, and it has been great to work with Ladbrokes to drum up support for the lads," said Madigan.
"It’s not every day you get to convert a kick over a landmark as iconic as the Poolbeg Chimneys, and I think I speak for all rugby fans when I say we are in for an absolute cracker of a tournament!
Ladbrokes make Ireland 9/2 to win the 2023 Rugby World Cup, with France, New Zealand, and South Africa the co-favourites at 3/1.
