Andrew Porter has become one of the most crucial players at both Ireland and Leinster, given the lack of depth at loose head prop, and with the imminent arrival of Jacques Nienaber at his province, the 27-year-old will be looking to hit greater heights as he heads into the prime of his career.
Porter does not have much of a relationship, yet, with Nienaber - who recently guided the Springboks to a second World Cup in a row - but he did have a very intriguing meeting with him back when the South African was coaching alongside Rassie Erasmus at Munster.
Andrew Porter Discusses Munster Meeting With Erasmus And Nienaber
On the latest episode of The Rugby Pod with Jim Hamilton, Porter explained how many years ago he was in talks with Nienaber and Erasmus about a potential move to Munster.
I did a while ago [meet Nienaber], when he was in Munster. I was just a wee boy coming through the academy. There was talk of me going down to Munster. I went down and met Rassie and Jacque.
It was my agent playing games, wanted me to go down to get a bit of a story going. (Jokes, maybe?)

"I remember meeting him", added Porter.
"I haven't had much contact with him since at all. The Munster lads said he's a top bloke and an incredible coach as well.
"To be having a two-time world champion coach is incredible. He hasn't been in yet but he is coming in soon when they've finished flaunting the trophy around."
What a signing he would have been, but unlikely none the less given how highly regarded he was at such a young age.
