As the curtains closed on Munster's season with a disappointing URC semi-final loss to the Glasgow Warriors, the game also brought an end to a fantastic career for Cork man Simon Zebo.

In May, Munster announced that the 34-year-old full-back was calling quits on an fantastic 14-year career. Zebo made his debut for Munster in 2010 and has gone on to become the leading try-scorer in the province's history with 73 in 176 appearances in red.

In 2018 left Munster, moving to Racing 92 in the French Top 14. Zebo's stint at the club was successful on a personal level, as he scored 25 tries in 60 appearances, though Racing failed to claim any silverware during his time there.

Zebo's Ireland career was cut short by his move to France, but his short time in the green jersey was very successful, scoring nine tries in 35 appearances and he has a Six Nations winner's medal to boot from 2015. He is also a former British & Irish Lion, having represented the side three times during the victorious 2013 tour of Australia.

Zebo was welcomed home to Munster in 2021 where he continued to entertain the fans of his home province, regaining his place as a crucial player in the squad helping them win the URC last season.

Ferris: Zebo won't dwell on the semi-final heartbreak

Speaking to The Build-up with Ladbrokes, Stephen Ferris, reflected on Simon Zebo's fantastic career, stating that last weekends semi-final defeat won't effect Zebo's mindset as he steps into retirement and a new chapter in his life

First of all he was an unbelievable player, but I think he's an even better bloke.

Zeebs is the type of fella, he'll wake up the next day hugely positive, positive energy, he looks forward to the next thing, he'll be looking forward to retirement and what opportunities he's going to have.

Yes his rugby career was huge to him and vitally important to him as well but he's the type of guy who will take all the positives out of it. Yes it was disappointing that they got put out in a semi-final but that wont grate on him I don't think. I think that's a really good characteristic to have and I look forward to working with him over the next year or two.

What ever the future holds for Zebo is still unknown but were bound to see him entertaining on the proverbial 'sofa' during the coverage of the smmer and Autumn internationals and you never know Ferris might even be sat beside him.
