On Friday, the Irish Times led with the definitively headlined 'Johann van Graan is the new Munster Director of Rugby'.
Van Graan, who is currently the Springboks forwards coach, has been part of the South African coaching team since 2012 when he joined under Heynke Meyer. When Allister Coetzee took over from Meyer last year, Van Graan was retained.
Following yesterday's draw between South Africa and Australia in the penultimate round of the Rugby Championship, Coetzee was asked about Van Graan being linked with Munster.
An angry Coetzee said that nothing is official, later adding that he did not want to talk about his assistant coach.
Have you seen his contract? Has he signed anything? How can it be official? Has SA Rugby said something? There is nothing official.
Heavily linked and signed is completely different. I don't want to talk about Johann van Graan.
Johann van Graan has got no signed contract (with Munster). He's a contracted assistant coach to SA Rugby and those are the facts.
Reading between the lines, you would have to think that Coetzee would not have been so angry if there was no credibility to the reports regarding Van Graan and Munster.
