Nearly a fortnight on from the passing of Anthony Foley, Alan Quinlan - his former Munster and Ireland teammate - appeared on RTÉ's The Ray D'Arcy Show.
Earlier this year on Sky Sports, following defeat to Stade Francais in the Rugby Champions Cup, Quinlan was hugely critical of the Munster team of which Anthony Foley was head coach.
Quinlan admitted that following Foley's death, he felt guilt because of those critical words. He also added that Foley's response at the time showed the type of man he was.
He was back coaching this year. Obviously, there was a fair bit of pressure in the last two years with the results, particularly last year. You know, I felt quite guilty myself because when it happened, I thought I was one of the ones who was critical of Munster last year. It's not about me but that's the way I felt at the time.
The measure of the man is that I texted him a couple of days afterwards and he came back to me and said if he had a problem with me he would have picked up the phone.
Quinlan also extolled Foley's abilities both on and off the pitch.
He was always captain material. He was always a leader. A very calm influence on everyone else in the dressing room. He made difficult things quite simple. He had loads of composure and control. He said the right things at the right times. He was brilliant rugby player aswell.
When he lifted the Heineken Cup in 2006, it was fitting. He played the first European game in 1995. In 2006, when he lifted that trophy, it was special - for all of us obviously - but he was the right man to do it.
