The Easter weekend may have brought some good transfer news Munster way but it has also served to remind those in Thomond that rebuilding a competitive Champions Cup squad won't be an easy task.

Kiwi, Francis Saili is in but, as had been suggested at the weekend, Munster have missed out on another of their prime transfer targets in the shape of Argentina captain Agustin Creevy.

The hooker had, along with Saili, been widely linked with Munster over the past couple of months, however, they have failed to get their man with the Pumas captain instead choosing to return home to join the as yet unnamed Super Rugby franchise from Argentina.

Munster are well stocked in the hooker department but perhaps not with the players they'd like. Mike Sherry is the incumbent hooker but doubts remain over his long term fitness given his less than ideal injury record while Creevy's fellow Puma, Eusebio Guinazu, is set to depart in the summer.

Creevy captain had been earmarked as the ideal replacement, not just for Guinazu, but also for the now retired Damien Varley. It looks likely that Munster will head back into the available player market to find an alternative to Creevy, however, there is also the possibility that Anthony Foley will instead look to give more playing time to the young trio of Duncan Casey, Kevin O'Byrne and Niall Scannell.
