At last there is some good injury news in Irish rugby as it looks like Cian Healy will return from his torn hamstring much earlier than expected and may yet play some part in Leinster's final two pool games in the European Champions Cup.
Leinster's scrum coach Marco Caputo told press yesterday 'He’s making real progress. I think he’s got his next benchmark examination next Monday and if he comes through that he’ll be in the frame (for selection).'
I thoroughly enjoy the Irish Times' line on how Healy has put himself back in contention early as a result of his 'conscientious dedication to the rehabilitation process.'
Caputo explained that the biggest problem facing Healy in recent weeks has been the fact that his injured leg was nowhere near as strong as his 'good leg' when he was 'let off the leash' after he recuperated.
Worst case scenario, he'll be fit for Ireland's first Six Nations match, thankfully.
