When you hear Gerry Thornley talk about the Champions Cup quarter-finals on Monday Night's Off the Ball, he will undoubtedly use the word 'facile' to describe Clermont's win against Northampton. The Aviva Premiership champions were crushed, 37-5, by the French side.
Later on in the evening, having had time to take it all in, Northampton back row Tom Wood, retaining his sense of humour, really summed up the ease of the victory.
