The Irish Examiner held a breakfast at the Clarion Hotel in Cork last week with Ronan O'Gara and Ruby Walsh headlining the line-up.
ROG was interviewed by Donal Lenihan and was questioned about his Late Late Show appearance last month. Asked by host Ryan Tubridy if he was more proud of scoring 2,625 points for Munster or father five children under the age of six, ROG said:
I wouldn’t be nervous getting up on Jessica but I would be nervous kicking a ball.
The quip lead to plenty of reaction, including O'Gara apologising on Twitter. After Donal Lenihan had a joke about ROG's wife sleeping with JJ Hanrahan, the former Munster out-half had his say regarding the interview with Ryan Tubridy.
It was a silly comment. I had two coffees. People thought I was on the sauce for the evening. I thought it was a bit of craic, it wasn't the best of comments but I'm with Jessica 19 years so she knows me pretty well at this stage. I've said worse things, people give out about it, that's their problem. I don't really have an issue with it, she didn't have an issue with it.
