O'Callaghan Wants Stringer At Munster
Amid reports of Leinster interest, it seems there are some people connected to Munster that would to see Peter Stringer back with the Red Army. Long time teammate Donncha O'Callaghan says he'd love if the 37 year old scrumhalf returned to his home province next season.
If it was up to me, I’d give him a 10 year deal. He’s in incredible shape.
O'Callaghan poured cold water on the suggestion that Stringer might be too old, remarking that the tee-totaler is in fantastic shape.
I bet if you go through the scores at Bath, Peter Stringer is probably the highest in fitness and pound for pound, probably the strongest and that’s what he should be judged on and not his age.
When Strings is around you, you want to play better. A three-year deal would be a good signing for someone. There’s no fear of Strings, there’s plenty of rugby left in him.
With Conor Murray, Duncan Williams and Cathal Sheridan signed on through next season at least, and Tomas O'Leary joining in the summer; it would be very unlikely that Munster would add another scrumhalf to their ranks.
Should Munster be interested in acquiring Stringer's services, they may have to ward off some stiff competition from an unlikely source.
