For weeks the Irish rugby public and Connacht fans in particular have been inundated with highly suspicious transfer rumours of Robbie Henshaw switching his allegiance to Leinster for next season. This is in spite of not only his current contract with Connacht running up until 2016, but also the fact that his college course in NUI Galway is set to be completed in 2016 as well.
A bigger development arrived yesterday morning with the Irish Independent reporting that Munster were actively chasing the Westmeath outside centre, and he was seen as the answer to their issues in the problem position. Given the regularity to which Connacht's better players seem to move to Leinster or Munster, this development seemed to be the strongest hint that Henshaw will end up in the red of Munster at the end of his current contract.
Not so necessarily. Munster assistant coach Ian Costello has moved to completely dismiss reports linking Henshaw with a move south.
I read that article as well and I didn’t see one quote which is interesting.
Costello acknowledges that Henshaw is a fantastic talent, but with his current contract with Connacht lasting for over 16 months, anything that's in the media until then is just speculation.
But he is contracted to Connacht at the moment and it sounds like he is going to be contracted next year. In the future, if someone like Robbie is available, it would make an awful lot of sense to be going after him but at the moment all that stuff is speculation
