Ireland U20's beat Italy U20's on a soggy pitch in Italy last night to open their Six Nations campaign. Ireland looked very good in attack, but their defense leaked two very soft tries in the first half. Things were better in the second half as Billy Dardis, Nick McCarthy and Cian Romaine scored unanswered tries to put some gloss on the scoreline.
Here are the pick of the tries from the game that ended 47-15 to Ireland.
Italy opened the scoring:
Josh Murphy barrelled over from a maul before Greg O'Shea crossed with a great try to put Ireland ahead:
Rory Moloney and hooker Zack McCall gave Ireland some daylight before halftime.
While highly rated fullback Billy Dardis got the ball rolling in the second half with Ireland's 5th try:
Before Nick McCarthy sniped over for a try and Connacht lock Cian Romaine got Ireland's 7th try. Outhalf Ross Byrne was outstanding and nailed 6 of the 7 conversions most from wide out on the touchline.
