It's not a huge surprise to hear that an Armitage has been in trouble with the law. What is a surprise is that it's Steffon Armitage.
Reports in France suggest that Steffon and Toulon teammate Xavier Chiocci were involved in an altercation last December after the win against Leicester in the Champions Cup.
Police are investigating allegations that Armitage and Chiocci struck a fellow restaurant goer after a fight broke out. The victim, it is claimed, was struck in the eye and, reportedly neither Chiocci or Armitage can remember anything of the incident.
Armitage was detained for questioning overnight, while Chiocci was released late last night.
Toulon have declined to comment on the incident, with president Mourad Boudjeddal waiting for more information.
Both players have been named in Toulon's 25-man squad for tomorrow's game against Bayonne.
