There have been many sport stars crossing codes to varying degress of success, whether it's rugby league to rugby union, rugby union to league, league to NFL, or even union to NFL. What we haven't seen so far, is someone trying to make it in rugby from the NFL after having never played it before.
Former NFL pro-bowler Willis McGahee is reportedly going to attempt his hand at playing rugby, per ESPN's Adam Schefter:
Former Pro Bowl RB Willis McGahee will be taking his talents to...pro rugby. He'll be working out at @TheNRFL Combine Jan 12 in Los Angeles.

Willis McGahee was a running back for the Buffalo Bills and Cleveland Browns, but is mostly remembered for his stints at the Baltimore Ravens and the Denver Broncos. His ability to go through a gap with power and footwork could help him with his adjustment to rugby.
McGahee will be attending the NRFL combine in LA this January, where many hopefuls will be looking to impress the watching scouts. This will be the second NRFL combine, which attracted the attentions of European clubs like Munster and Saracens last year. The aim of the NRFL is to set up an American based league. Having a player as well known and as high profile as Willis McGahee may give the yet to be formed league some popularity and traction.
McGahee, 33, is 6' tall, would likely be an inside centre or a winger. He wasn't a punt returner in the NFL, which likely means that he won't be a full back. His footwork and lacking of passing skills means that wing could be an option, although his ability to run between tacklers could mean that inside centre could work for him.
