Following his quite frankly fantastic rant at the weekend, Martin Castrogiovanni's club, Toulon, have issued an apology to Leicester Tigers and Richard Cockerill.
The president of the French champions, Mourad Boudjellal, has today said that a letter is being sent to the English side after the Italian international interrupted their press conference to let fly over his grievances with the club following the weekend's Champions Cup clash between the two sides.
I was very surprised by Martin’s behaviour. This is not the boy I know. It was clear that he was disappointed, but he used bad language. I did not expect that.
We are sending Leicester and Richard Cockerill a letter of apology and I will be meeting the player with Bernard Laporte [the Toulon head coach] to decide whether to take any action. Some form of sanction cannot be ruled out.
However, Paul Eddison a journalist working out of France has suggested that the club have already moved to suspend the player for all of three days, which would mean he would miss the weekend match against Sale.
Toulon have suspended Martin Castrogiovanni for three days following his rant. Unlikely to feature against Leicester this weekend.
