Ronan O'Gara has called for life bans for anyone caught doping in rugby. Speaking RTE's Game On, O'Gara said if someone as highly thought of as Paul Kimmage gets involved and the evidence is credible then it's time for rugby to take notice.
While he admitted that he has little knowledge of the subject, he has heard little whispers here and there throughout his 15 year career. This sentiment was echoed by Grenoble coach Bernard Jackman who was also on the show. O'Gara said:
There has always been whispers, throughout the 15 or 16 years I played the game, of so-and-so may be on this, or so-and-so may be on that.
Jackman went on to praise Kimmage, and say it's good that this is being spoken about and rugby should use this time to educate people. Both O'Gara and Jackman acknowledged the pressure that young people are under to try an gain an advantage.
