As the race for the Premier League title continues to build steam and only the tightest of margins separate the top three, it's looking more and more likely that a moment of magic could determine who lifts the Premier League trophy in a couple of weeks.

It was exactly that, that Alexis Mac Allister delivered this evening against Sheffield United to return Liverpool to the summit of the Premier League, with Liverpool fans comparing it to Gerrard's famous screamer vs Olympiakos in 2004.

Liverpool took on Sheffield United at Anfield this evening needing a win to overtake Arsenal and regain their position at the top of the table, with Jurgen Klopp's men eventually delivering a 3-1 win thanks to Mac Allister's strike.

While Jurgen Klopp's men enjoyed a fruitful night in Anfield, it was Alexis Mac Allister who continued his outstanding run of form and garnered all the credits, with Liverpool fans comparing his goal to Gerrard's famous strike against Olympiakos that inspired Liverpool to Champions League victory.

With the game deadlocked at 1-1 and the clock quickly dwindling down, Mac Allister delivered a sublime first-touch shot from the edge of the box straight into the top-right corner, in what will be an easy contender for goal of the season.

Tonight's goal marks Alexis Mac Allister's tenth goal involvement in his last eleven Liverpool appearances across all competitions in a run that will surely put him in contention for the signing of the season.

With memories of Olympiakos 2005 flooding back into the mind of Liverpool fans all over, many of them took to social media to herald the Argentine's impact, hoping the strike will be as inspiring as Gerrard's in 2005.

While Mac Allister was exceptional, it was Darwin Nunez's goal that saw the Reds head in at the break 1-0 up, before an own-goal from Tyrone man Conor Bradley just before the hour mark left the affair all square.

However, Alexis Mac Allister's 'Gerrard moment' that fans are saying could inspire them on to win the league just like Gerrard did all those years ago, sent Liverpool ahead with just under fifteen minutes to go.

With a seven-goal negative score difference with title contenders Arsenal still very much at play, Cody Gakpo converted a final time in the ninetieth minute to give Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool a 3-1 win.

The result leaves Liverpool top of the Premier League three points ahead of Manchester City and two points ahead of Arsenal with eight games left to play for all three sides. However, with City's continued success in the Champions League, they'll be left fighting fire on two fronts opening things up for Arsenal and Liverpool to battle it out.
