Graeme Souness has faced backlash after his comments on Sky Sports last night where he described Chelsea v Spurs as a 'man's game' while sitting beside former England player Karen Carney.
The panel were discussing Chelsea and Spurs' entertaining 2-2 draw after the final whistle and Souness got himself into a bit of trouble with some of his comments.
Speaking on Sky Sports' Super Sunday, Graeme Souness said:
"We've all played the game.
"When you see simulation, people throwing themselves to the ground... I've not seen that today. It's a man's game all of a sudden again.

After going to an ad break, Souness returned to his point about it being a man's game.
"I think we've got our football back, as I would enjoy football. Men at it. Blow for blow, and the referee letting them getting at it."
Souness's comments didn't go down to well with the public and many female footballers let their feelings known on social media.

Souness responds to his comments
On Monday morning, Graeme Souness appeared on talkSPORT where he spoke about his controversial comments.
Speaking on talkSPORT, the former Liverpool player and manager said:
"We were fast becoming like other leagues, where the ref was blowing the whistle all the time, the game didn't flow and it wasn't a very good watch. Our game has always been unique. It's always been meaty, more in your face, more intense and we had got away from that.
"I think yesterday, my comments yesterday, I said we got our game back. That's the kind of football I remember playing and our league will be better for it, we are back. And the directive to the referees is long overdue, we've got our game back.
I enjoyed two games of football yesterday where men were playing men and they got about themselves at times, they were falling out with each other.
"It was a throwback and I think our football will be better for it."

Over on The Athletic this morning, Caoimhe O'Neill explained why Souness's comments made her uncomfortable. She wrote:
Souness’s comments — even if he did not necessarily intend for them to — dulled my post-Euros glow but in a way, I am glad because I now realise our work isn’t finished. We cannot rest on our laurels or on the medals England fought so hard to win. Instead, we need to keep on evolving and educating.
