Shane Ryan has secured a bronze medal with a time of 24.64 in the final of the 50m Backstroke at the European Championships in Glasgow.
The race featured a stunning performance from Russian Kliment Kolesnikov who stormed to victory with a time of 24.00 flat. Ryan started brightly and battled hard to medal. It is only the fourth time he has swan this distance in 2018 as his focus is mainly on the 100m.

The 24-year-old hails from Pennsylvania, qualifies for Ireland via his father who is from Laois. He won the Irish 100m backstroke and 100m freestyle already this year as he continues to improve.
