Calling all soon-to-be fathers: some new paternity laws have been introduced which will afford you two weeks of paid leave so you can welcome your little one into your life without feeling any pressure from the office (or your bank account).
From September 1st of this year, men will be entitled to paid leave in the event of a new birth or the adoption of a child.
There's no catch. The payment must be claimed within 26 weeks of a birth, or from the date of the adoption placement and it must be certified by your employer. In fact, all of the rules and regulations are easily explained on welfare.ie and the video below is pretty darn helpful too.
And how much will it be? The tidy sum of €230 per week.

OK lads, no excuses! If you don't know how to effectively put nappies on your child now, you'll have plenty of time to learn.
