Last month we had an extremely good Friday at Shelbourne Park as Ger Gilroy hosted a Q & A session with Republic of Ireland legend Tony Cascarino after a fantastic night of greyhound racing.
To top the night off, Ireland would go on to beat Switzerland 1-0 at The Aviva Stadium, just a few hundred yards away from our event at Shelbourne Park, but that took a back seat to the real event that everybody was talking about... The Tony Cascarino @ Shelbourne Park A2!
Coming right on the back of the 'Joey Lapira Invitational' (yes, the Irish Greyhound Board allowed us to name the races), we had a chat with Tony and expert tipster Sarah Kinsella, where we discussed the betting strategy for the race:
Tony wisely decided to take the advice of the expert, while Mikey opted for the more romantic option of picking the most fittingly named dog, and funnily enough the outside bet nearly pulled off an upset:
0.01 of a difference! So close for 'Physical Power'! In the end 'Little' Nidge justified the favourite tag and held on, but it was a fantastic race.
Cascarino was on to a winner, and presented the prize to the victorious owners before posing for photos with the Ireland fans who were enjoying his company along with the full bar.
A great night was had by all, and there'll be more to come from the Q & A in the near future. Be sure to follow @shelbournepark on twitter, and Sarah Kinsella too now that you've seen that she knows her stuff, and get down for a night of racing soon.
