Cork rowing, eh? It was yet another medal for Ireland in rowing this morning and another gold medal for Ballincollig's Sanita Puspure, this time adding the European Single Skulls title to the World Championship gold she took last year.
In Lucerne, Puspure held off the challenge of local Swiss rower Jeannine Gmelin, the previous champion, with a new European Championships record of 7:23.18 thrown in for good measure. Puspure took a healthy lead in the first half of the race and despite fading in the latter stages, had done enough to hold off the challenge of Gmelin.

Speaking to David Gillick on RTE after the race, Puspure admitted she didn't think she going to win today and had surprised herself.

The win brings to seven the number of Irish gold medals in World and European level since 2016, along with a host of other medals including, most famously, the O'Donovans' silver medal at the Rio Olympics.
