Raymond Van Barneveld left the World Championship stage for the final time last night and in the process gave one of the most awkward post-game interviews in the history of the tournament.
The Dutchman had announced in advance that this would be his last time participating at Alexandra Palace after a career that saw him win five world titles - four within the BDO ranks and a PDC title against Phil Taylor in 2007. However, he came undone at the first hurdle at this year's tournament, after Darin Young defeated the former champion 3-1 at the iconic venue.
While the legend of the sport was happy to walk over to the nearby Sky reporter for an interview, he wasn't feeling very loquacious after his final tournament went up in smoke much sooner than expected.
"I will never forgive myself - never ever." ☹

As fans cheered their sporting hero's name in the background, Van Barneveld was keeping his answers as short as possible before saying: "I will never forgive myself - never ever."
