2016 was a huge year for Paul and Gary O'Donovan. A silver in the Olympics, and interviews which stole the nation's hearts. Whether it was steak and spuds, or pulling like a dog, they brought a smile to viewers faces all across Ireland -and indeed the UK.
The Skibbereen lads were agonizingly close to a medal at the World Rowing Cup, but they were back in action today at the European Championships. They qualified for the final of the men's lightweight double sculls. They finished second in the semi final, behind those pesky French rowers that beat them in Rio.
Naturally, they were messing about in the post-race interview. This time it was David Gillick who was the target. The weather in Prague was considerably warmer than Ireland, and apparently Gillick forgot to pack his sunscreen, which is a bad thing to happen when Gary O'Donovan is around.
It appears that Paul O'Donovan forgot to put on the factor 50 and is paying the price. #scalded - Watch the final live on RTE 2 on Sunday. pic.twitter.com/oWwd5mHCcQ

To translate:
"David mentioned there about my suntan. If you get a close up of him there, his arm is in the back of his neck. He's absolutely scalded! You'd think a man with such experience of travelling in sport would know these things! Put on a bit of suncream."
Gillick has shared this provocative photo of the trio on Instagram this evening.
The pair are in action at around quarter to eleven on Sunday morning as they go for gold in the final. Just before that, Denise Walsh will be in the final of the women's sculls, having finished second in her semifinal.
