Man runs onto stage during darts: some mad eejit decided to make a dash for the world championship trophy during van Gerwen v Anderson last night.
Michael van Gerwen won the world darts championship with an absolutely sensational performance against Gary Anderson at the Alexandra Palace on Monday night.
It was after the third set that van Gerwen really put the foot down after a positive start from Anderson.
And something highly unusual occurred in the middle of his rampage to victory as one mad prankster from the crowd decided to make a burst for glory and try to make off with the Sid Waddell memorial trophy.
The aforementioned eejit is one Lee Marshall (who goes by the alias 'Disco Boy') who is a member of a Youtube prank channel called 'Trollstation'.
Marshall waited for the opportune moment before leaping onto the stage and causing all hell to break loose amongst the security guards before he was finally stopped in his tracks.
It's worrying that he managed to get so close to the stage. Van Gerwen was actually about to throw a dart when the intruder barrelled onto the stage.
It didn't exactly put him off, though.
Trollstation have had members jailed for pranks in the past. Earlier in the year, four from the group were sent to prison for fake robberies and kidnappings at London's National Portrait Gallery and Tate Britain.
They also invaded the pitch at White Hart Lane during a Europa League game between Spurs and Partizan Belgrade a couple of years ago.
Here's the 'behind the scenes' video from the darts incident.
