In a spectacular finish, the Irish Eventing team have finished among the medals at the World Equestrian Games in Tryon, North Carolina.
The team of Cathal Daniels, Sam Watson, Sarah Ennis and Padraig McCarthy were in the fight for gold right up until the end, but will be more than happy to settle for silver this time around.

Waiting on Team GB to finish before learning their fate, the gold medal would go to the British team in the end. It does mean, however, that Team Ireland are now assured of their place at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
Massive congratulations to Sally Corscadden and her team Cathal Daniels. Sam Watson, Padraig MCarthy and Sarah Ennis & Patricia Ryan

However, the spectacular result for Team Ireland was not the full extent of their success in North Carolina. In the individual event, Padraig McCarthy claimed a silver medal of his own to go with the team's win.
