Ireland have taken home gold in the lightweight men's double scull final, at the European Rowing Championships. Olympic gold medallists, Paul O'Donovan and Fintan McCarthy, beat Italy and Switzerland to first place in their 'A' final, finishing 3.68 second ahead of the Italians and 4.95 seconds ahead of the Swiss.
Aoife Casey was just pipped to fourth in the lightweight women's single sculls 'A final. She finished 1.48 seconds behind the Netherlands, while Greece were second and Romania in first.
Gold For Ireland
Steven McGowan and Katie O'Brien finished fourth in the mixed double sculls 'A' final. They finished 11.67 behind Poland in third, while Ukraine and France came first and second, respectively.
Ireland came in fourth place once more in the lightweight women's double sculls 'A' final, 9.69 seconds behind winners Great Britain, while France came second and Italy third.
