There were disturbing scenes during the final stages of today's Giro d'Italia after Miguel Angel Lopez collided with a spectator.
What happened next, however, could have major repercussions for the Colombian.
Frustrated with the overenthusiastic fan, Lopez was seen lashing out at the spectator as he lay on the ground.
"That's not the reaction you want but you can understand the anger!" 😡

Eager fans pointlessly running alongside competitors is a common theme at the sport's Grand Tours, though the 25-year-old's reaction has been among the fiercest.
Meanwhile, Ireland's Eddie Dunbar had a solid race, getting into a promising position before being caught in the final few kilometres. The race was eventually won by Pello Bilbao, a teammate of Lopez on the Astana team.
The final stage of this year's event takes place tomorrow with a 17-kilometre time trial in Verona.
