It's fair to say Antoine Dupont is a big deal in France. He's arguably become the face of rugby over the past couple of years and he and the rest of the French squad got a hero's reception after winning Gold in the Rugby Sevens on Saturday.
France became only the second nation to win gold in the event after the defeated back-to-back champions Fiji in the the final at the Stade de France.
France had reached the final after beating World Series Champs Argentina as well as South Africa while Fiji were able to beat Australia after their controversial win over Ireland.
It was all square after the first seven minutes of the final but it was in the second half when Dupont took over. He came off the bench to provide the assist for the try that gave France the lead before scoring two of his own to secure Gold for the hosts.
Dupont was pivotal in the victory as he came on at halftime with the scores level getting an assist as well as two tries of his own to secure a home Gold for the hosts.
It was a party time in Paris for the squad as they were greeted by joyous crowds while conducting interviews with French television. The Eurosport cameras captured the moment when Dupont went crowdsurfing and the players joined the crowd in singing La Marseillaise.
With a Champions Cup and a Top 14 to boast as well this year has been like no other for Dupont. He's become undoubtedly the best player on the planet by some distance and no one can seem to stop him.
