Former OCI president Pat Hickey is currently being questioned by Police in Rio de Janeiro after being pictured leaving hospital at around 3.30pm local time on Thursday evening.
Hickey was arrested in his hotel room by Brazilian police on Wednesday morning and faces three charges of facilitating ticket touting, formation of a cartel and ambush or illicit marketing, but was taken to hospital after informing the officers that he had a heart condition.
Images quickly began to surface of the 71-year-old being transported to a police station for questioning.
If found guilty Hickey faces up to seven years in prison, and he has stepped down as OCI president at least for the time being.
The OCI issued a statement confirming that Hickey had been released from hospital and was being questioned in Rio:
The Olympic Council of Ireland can confirm that Pat Hickey has been discharged from hospital and has been accompanied to a police station to complete a deposition.
