The opening ceremony of the Paralympics took place at the Maracana on Wednesday night.
Over 11 days, 4,300 competitors will take part in the Games - 48 of them Irish.
During last night's ceremony, Marcia Malsar - a member of the 1984 Brazilian Paralympic team - was tasked with transporting the Paralympic torch along with Antônio Delfino and Ádria Rocha.
Maslar fell to the floor while carrying the torch. Undeterred, and aided by a huge roar from the Maracana crowd, she got back to her feet, continuing her journey around the stadium.
It was an inspirational moment.
