Jason Smyth has spoken of his relief in the aftermath of winning his T13 100 metres final at the Paralympic Games.
Smyth was always the clear favourite to win the race and along with Michael McKillop carried on his shoulders the tag both of favourite and of highest-profile athlete from these shores competing at the Games.
So it was understandable that, when he spoke to RTE shortly after his win, he was relieved that his "fairytale" continued.

The 200 metres is not being run in Rio, so now Smyth can kick back and watch his Team Ireland companions strive to follow on from where he has started. His good friend McKillop, who has also been cut back to one event after the 800 metres was excluded from the Rio roster, will race in the T37 1500 metres final on Sunday.
