It's fair to say that Dara Ó Briain has had a sporting summer that most Irish fans would be incredibly envious of.

The beloved comedian has taken in some of the biggest sporting events of the summer, not only in Ireland but across the continent.

52-year-old Ó Briain began his summer taking in the European Championships in Germany, witnessing some incredible drama as England fought their way to the final before yet another heartbreaking defeat to Spain in the showpiece event in Berlin.

He was then a special guest on the BBC's coverage of the gripping All-Ireland hurling final between Clare and Cork. Ó Briain would play a crucial role in explaining the rules of the sport to British viewers who were tuning in for the first time.

As if those two weren't enough for the Bray man, he has spent the past few weeks taking in the very best of the Paris Olympics - including being present for multiple Irish medal wins.

It's been a spectacular summer for Dara Ó Briain. He would share a hilarious video to Instagram on Thursday, which summed up the madcap travels of the past few weeks through an unusual common thread.

Dara Ó Briain shares incredible 'Freed from Desire' compilation

Whether it be at the Dusseldorf Arena, Croke Park, or Paris' La Défense Arena, it seems impossible for Dara Ó Briain to escape the 90s classic 'Freed from Desire,' judging by his incredible compilation video on Instagram on Thursday.

The hilarious video from Ó Briain sees the song played on the PA at all of the above venues, as well as at the volleyball and beach volleyball events. There is a brief respite at Disneyland Paris, before the video concludes with a brass band playing the dance hit live at the Olympic archery events.

As Ó Briain says, "Well, it's a twist."

Our personal favourite, however, is the interlude which shows the medal ceremony after Paul O'Donovan and Fintan McCarthy's epic gold medal in the lightweight double sculls for Ireland - and Ó Briain's passionate singing of 'Amhrán na bhFiann.'

The Irish comedian is home from the Olympics now, bringing a close to his incredible sporting summer.

Some of the biggest moments of the summer for Ó Briain have included taking in England's dramatic EURO 2024 quarter-final victory over Switzerland and an all-time classic All-Ireland final in Croke Park last month.

However, it is hard to imagine anything will top taking in two Irish gold medals in the flesh at the Paris Olympics. Ó Briain even got his hands on Rhys McClenaghan's gold medal after the Irish gymnast took victory in the pommel horse.

When he was invited into the BBC studio once again at the Stade de France, he shared a Tweet revealing the hilarious misunderstanding which may have been caused by Gabby Logan's introduction of him to US athletics hero Michael Johnson.

If there was an Olympic medal for attending the most sporting events, we'd imagine Dara Ó Briain would be right in the mix for gold.
