5 Reasons Why A Steven Gerrard & Robbie Keane Reunion Makes Too Much Sense

After Liverpool captain and club legend Steven Gerrard announced the big news that he would be leaving the club at the end of the season, there has been much speculation as to where he will play his football next season.

As he is so emotionally attached to Liverpool, there is no chance that he would join another Premier League team, and as he turns 35 years old in May, it seems highly unlikely that he would make a switch to Italy or Spain at this stage of his career.

One option that everybody seems to believe is an inevitability, is for Gerrard to become the latest big name to make the switch to the United States, and the MLS, following in the footsteps of David Beckham, Thierry Henry, and of course Robbie Keane.

In fact, Robbie Keane's LA Galaxy are largely believed to be in the best position to secure Gerrard, and here are five reasons why that deal just makes sense.

Keane and Gerrard share the same agent.

Casey Wasserman has represented both Steven Gerrard and Robbie Keane as part of WMG Management for a significant amount of time, and with the group having arranged the deal for Keano to hit the Hollywood Hills, they have experience in bringing players to the MLS.

LA Galaxy need a big name signing.

With the departure of Landon Donovan, who EVERYBODY knows is one of the greatest damn soccer players the World has ever seen, the Galaxy need someone to share the burden with Robbie Keane. For Gerrard to sit deep and create for Keane the Galaxy would be going into the season in a good position to defend their MLS title. Gerrard would sell shirts and put bums in seats.

Los Angeles makes the MLS worth it for Gerrard.

There is a significant drop in standard when moving from the Premier League to the MLS, that is a given, but it's easier to accept that drop when you're free time is mingling with the stars in Hollywood. This move would keep his wife and kids happy no doubt, and lets face it, LA would be a lovely place to wind down your playing career.

Gerrard will want to win, and LA can offer him that.

Wherever he does end up, it's obvious that Steven Gerrard will want to pick up a few more trophies before his career comes to an end. While an MLS cup can't fill the void of an absent Premier League winner's medal, by joining up with the Galaxy, Stevie will have a big say in where the title ends up over there, and would probably be the bookies early favourite for MVP.

For moments like this...

Robbie and Stevie get on well. Most of Robbie's Liverpool goals came from a Gerrard pass, and the Dublier would no doubt be in the ear of Gerrard telling him how great LA is and how they could dominate the league together.

It's all speculation still and nothing is confirmed, but Steven Gerrard to LA Galaxy makes so much sense that it's difficult to see any other outcome.
