What Job Would You Give Stewart Downing At Liverpool

Brendan Rogers has decided that enough is enough and the assist making machine that bears the name Stewart Downing is broken and beyond repair. Rather than force the Anfield faithful to go through another season of overshot, undershot, misdirected and mistimed crosses, he feels the time is ripe to turn Downing into a decent left back. Rogers' thinking is admirable as Downing must be one of the best players in the game at turning a decent crossing opportunity into a goal kick or throw in, this is what he can do at left back surely.

But if that doesn't work out, where next for Downing, most likely Spurs as they can never have enough mediocre midfielders but the 20m man is sure to stay at Anfield for a while, why not draw up a list of other roles he could fulfil we thought..

  1. Stewart Downing - The Voice Of Anfield - Already a part time DJ, Stewart could celebrate the goals scored with the songs of his choice.
  2. Downing's Penalty Workshop - Stewart could hold workshops on how he successfully became the first player in 7 years to miss 3 penalties, helping the next crop of English talent understand how not to take a penalty
  3. The Accountant's Assistant - Downing could follow  around the money man at Anfield 24/7, acting a constant reminder of what he wasted 20m on last summer. Andy Carroll could fill in when Downing eventually ends up losing his man.
  4. The Groundskeeper - Stewart could take over responsibility for cutting the grass at Anfield, this may result in odd circular patterns emerging as well as well-worn routes starting in the box and ending up at the corner flag
He'll still probably end up at White Hart Lane all the same.
