Man City recorded their 12th consecutive Premier League win on Wednesday night. It came via another late winner from Raheem Sterling, his 13th goal of the season.
Guardiola was ebullient following Sterling's goal - referee Paul Tierney had to tell the Spaniard to calm down before the game restarted.
Following the final white, Guardiola again looked a restless figure. As he walked off the pitch, he was pictured deep in conversation with Nathan Redmond, having his arm around the shoulder of the Southampton player at one point.
In the post-match press conference, the 46-year-old explained what he said to Redmond. It was a Pep talk from the Man City manager.
What did Pep Guardiola say to Nathan Redmond?
"(I told him) how good a player he is. Last season he destroyed us here. I didn't know him last season, I realised how good he is. Southampton have some super-talented players, Redmond is so good one against one," said Guardiola.
He was particularly flustered regarding Southampton's tactics in the game.
But they didn't' want to play, they were time wasting from the ninth minute. I just wanted them to play.
Today he could not attack because they defend all the time, but that is what it is. I spoke with Oriol Romeu as well, with (Virgil) van Dijk and with my players as well.
