Waterford United, sat third from bottom in the First Division and mired in financial difficulties, got rid of old Rod today.
Collins took over the club in the summer of 2015 when they were dead last in the First Division. They rose to second from dead last by the end, rising one point ahead of new boys Cabinteely.
For this season, they had designs on promotion but have slumped to sixth in the table.
Last weekend, they were spanked 8-1 by UCD. Presiding over this loss was Rod's last act as Waterford boss.
The club didn't even try that 'mutual consent' line that clubs trot out to soften the blow. That's cold.
Waterford United can confirm the departure of Roddy Collins as First team Manager with immediate effect. The club would like to thank him

The club's finances were in dire straits earlier in the season and Roddy took an innovative approach to trying to extricate them from the mess.
He challenged John Delaney to a charity 'white collar' boxing match in the Woodlands Hotel in Waterford, evidently reasoning that there was a great hunger out there to see him punching John Delaney.
People might think I’m kidding, or that this is a hangover from my recent dealings with the FAI. But it’s not. If anything, I’m holding out an olive branch.
Roddy versus JD, three rounds in the Woodlands Hotel. We’d pack the place out and all for a brilliant cause. We could secure the future of the club in one night.
We didn't hear anymore about this proposal. John Delaney presumably declined the offer. He should have cited the dignity of his office in his refusal, a dignity he is at pains to preserve throughout his time in the role.
