Republic of Ireland international Richard Keogh was one of his side's shining lights in Derby County's 2-1 victory over Norwich at Carrow Road this afternoon.

The Derby County skipper is renowned for his fully committed defending but showed off his eye for a pass as he pinged a through ball from inside his half to striker David Nugent, who curled an excellent 20 yard shot into the corner of the net to put Derby 1-0 up on the stroke of halftime.

Norwich defender Tim Klose levelled the host's with 20 minutes remaining when he rose highest to head in at the far post from a couple of yards out but with seven minutes remaining, substitute Sam Winnall secured the three points for the Rams bundling home from close range.

The result leaves Gary Rowett's men on 22 points after 13 matches, one place outside the playoff spot's in seventh position.

Keogh was included in Martin O'Neill's Republic of Ireland squad on Friday for their upcoming playoff matches against Denmark in two weeks and although the 31-year-old had been an ever-present during Ireland's Euro 2016 journey, the impressive Shane Duffy and Ciaran Clark are now O'Neill's preferred centre-half partnership.
