Jamie Carragher is one of those players who openly admits that they were not blessed with the natural ability of some of their teammates and opponents, but instead reached the top of the game thanks to their work rate and understanding of the game.
Carragher was never the most comfortable footballer but was a magnificent servant to Liverpool FC and retired as a hero to the fans at Anfield, mainly because he was an absolute nightmare to play against for the opposition.
If it wasn't the 90 minutes of screeching instructions at his teammates that would put a striker off, Carragher was very rarely shy to let the man he was marking 'know he was there' and more often than not he was able to do so within the laws of the game.
He mastered the 'dark arts', the tactics that would be punished if seen but were done with enough discretion to go ignored, and on Monday Night Football when looking back on Liverpool's 3-2 win over Leicester, he outlined why Simon Mignolet needs to work on that aspect of his game.
Carragher was bemused at how Mignolet allowed 5'6" Shinji Okazaki to outmuscle him for his goal, and gave a tutorial on how to deliver an elbow that isn't actually an elbow in a segment that made for great TV and had Thierry Henry chuckling on the other side of the desk.
Vintage Carragher, and he's not wrong to be fair.
Mignolet was too soft and allowed Okazaki to throw him off, and while it's a fine balance between getting in front of another player and conceding a penalty, he really could have done more to make it difficult for the Leicester man.
Carragher's exact breakdown on the elbow and how it should be planted has to be one of the MNF highlights of the year.
